Simon Coll has a rich company history spanning back to 1840. The founder, Simón Mestres, was born to a family of wine-makers from the famous Cava-making town of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. While his brother dedicated himself to wine, Simón established a new business a few doors from the family house. There he opened a shop selling “overseas” products such as cocoa and coffee.

Daily contact with cocoa led him to chocolate-making.  By hand, he created various chocolate formulas which would soon become the most sought-after products for clients of Casa Simón. From 1840 to the present, six family generations have contributed in making Simón Coll what it is today. Simón Coll have remained in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, near Barcelona, from where they continue to write their history.

Amatller was an emblematic chocolate brand in Barcelona since 1797 – and became incorporated into the Simon Coll family in 1972.

Gabriel Amatller established his workshop in the heart of old Barcelona more than 220 years ago. He began selling his artisan chocolates to the city’s elite until it grew into one of the finest chocolatiers on the planet. Gabriel’s grandson, Antoni Amatller i Costa, took over the family business almost a decade later.

As an art collector and patron, the entrepreneurial Antoni had the idea to start creating collectible cards and posters. These were by artists such as Alphonse Mucha, Apel·les Mestres and Alexandre de Riqueras, and accompanied the chocolates. His artistic eye and pioneering flair live on today in the brand’s beautiful packaging and attention to detail.
