A decidedly English treat with a Spanish twist, this mulled cider is perfect for cold, blustery days.

This recipe takes advantage of the tart, dry taste of our Sidra Trabanco cider- but you can make it sweeter if so desired. Sidra Trabanco is the regional drink of Asturias and is served in many Siderias throughout the north of Spain. We invite you to try it for your holiday parties, or to warm up on Bonfire Night.

This recipe serves 15 guests.


2.1 litres of Sidra Trabanco natural Spanish cider

6 cloves

3-4 star anise

¼ nutmeg, finely grated

1 cinnamon stick

Juice of 1 orange

3-5 tablespoons of dark brown sugar to taste

Optional: allspice berries, 1 vanilla pod



  1. Pour the cider into a large pan on a low heat and let it warm through for a few minutes. Add all the spices and orange juice and turn the heat up. Once boiling, turn down to a simmer for 5–8 minutes.
  2. Taste and add dark brown sugar as desired.
  3. Serve warm.
