NEW! We are delighted to be introducing a new range of olives and pickles with our own brand, developed in conjunction with our supplier of olives, Jose Lou. These are long thin green chillies with a sweet-spicy taste, a speciality of Navarra and the Basque Country. They have been lightly pickled, and once rinsed are perfect with a plate of Jamon Serrano or other tapas dishes; as an appetiser with marinated olives, or try with bonito tuna, anchovies or smoked fish. One of the most famous Banderillas in Spain (a cocktail stick with assorted pickles on it, named after a stick used in bullfighting) is a 'Gilda', created in the Basque Country when the film of the same name was released in 1946: made using a piparra, an anchovy, a gherkin and an olive, it is said, like the character, to be both salty and spicy!
