These mushrooms are known by many names such as Black trumpet, Trumpet of the Dead, Black Chanterelle and Horn of Plenty. They are a dark brown colour and have an intense flavour with notes of black truffle; use in soups, bechamel sauces and vegetable dishes, as well as risottos and meat stews. If using in cooking you can add the dried mushrooms as they are, but they can also be soaked for around an hour so they regain their shape - you can use the soaking water to add flavour to stocks and soups. The pack of 25g will weigh approximately 100g once soaked. (It is not recommended to eat them raw as apparently that can cause indigestion).
