Bacalao Salt Cod pieces 500g





This is a classic Spanish and Portuguese ingredient - pieces of cod, preserved in salt and then dried. This method of preservation helps to keep the nutrients intact and makes the fish tastier. It requires at least 24 (if not 48) hours of soaking before use to remove the salt, with several changes of water each day. It is traditionally eaten in northern Spain, often with a tomato sauce as the salty flavour of the cod combines well with the sweetness of tomato sauce, garlic and roasted red pepper.
