Denomination of Origin Ribera del Duero
Wines from the Ribera del Duero region are less well-known in the UK than Riojas, but they are very highly regarded in Spain. They are made mainly with Tempranillo grapes in the same way as a Rioja, but tend to have a more subtle oakiness and depth of flavour. This 'Roble' uses 85% Tempranillo and 15% Merlot from vines more than 60 years old and is aged in American oak barrels for 6 months and in the bottle for a minimum of another 6 months. It has aromas of blackberries and herbs, and is great with red meats and cheeses.
Allergy advice: contains sulphites.
